Abstract:
This poster presents a case of subglottic granular cell tumor presenting in a 10 year old male and review the existing literature on head and neck granular cell tumors. This patient presented with exercise intolerance and biphasic stridor. Diagnosis was achieved during endoscopic evaluation at which time tracheostomy was performed to secure the airway. After confirmation of pathology, definitive resection via partial cricotracheal resection was performed to address both ablative and reconstructive goals. Tracheostomy was maintained while awaiting final confirmation of negative surgical margins. This case highlights the diagnostic challenge of this benign neoplasm and the overlap of head and neck principles in this airway reconstructive effort.
