Abstract:
To evaluate and compare the costal cartilage lateral crural strut graft’s ability to support a weak lateral crus in patients with EVD undergoing primary versus revision functional rhinoplasty. In this prospective cohort study, patients with clinically diagnosed EVD were assessed at a Tertiary Rhinologic Center and underwent primary versus revision functional rhinoplasty with use of a costal cartilage lateral crural strut graft. Patient benefit was assessed based on the Visual Analog Scale (VAS), 22-Item Sinonasal Outcome Test (SNOT-22), and Nasal Obstruction Symptom Evaluation Scale (NOSE) scores. Objective assessment included post-decongestion nasal peak inspiratory flow (NPIF). The costal cartilage lateral crural strut graft is an effective technique in improving patient-reported and objective outcomes for both primary and revision rhinoplasty patients. It is a functionally viable option for the correction of EVD.
